Intro to the peaks
Beckie drafted stories for her own children when they were young. The stories were printed off on a home printer and stapled together and enjoyed by her family, it has been twenty years since Beckie last put pen to paper.
Beckie is now about to launch the first in a series of six books, which chart the adventures of her own plucky chickens.
Since moving from Cheshire to the Peak District last November, Beckie has taken inspiration from the landscape around her, and marvels at how her friendly hens have adapted to life in the Peaks.
Beckie loves to write, so coupled with the love she has for her hens, the stories are a recipe for success. She explains, ‘they are easy to write about. All four are adventurous and have their own little personalities. The stories are all about friendship, and this merry band of best friends show us that we all have strengths and weaknesses which shape who we are.’
Determined to get the books published this time, Beckie set about finding an illustrator and discovered local artist Aoife, who has risen to the challenge and brought the words in the stories to life.
